Statement - A Level results day 2016

  • By Gemma Kappala-R...

Cllr Peter John OBE, London Councils’ Executive member for children, skills and employment, said:

“I wish all young people in London receiving their A Level results the best of luck. Whatever results young people achieve and whether they choose university, further education, apprenticeships, internships or jobs, they will be making progress towards a successful future career.

“Our recent report on higher education showed that there is an upward trend in the number of young Londoners entering university, which is good news given that the majority of jobs in London are graduate level. However it is clear that more needs to be done to ensure all young people in London can experience the benefits of higher education, even via routes other than the traditional full-time option.

“That’s why we will continue to promote better careers work and guidance in schools and colleges through London Ambitions, so that young people understand all their options and make choices that support their progression.”
